Wat Phra Ram, the Temple of Rama, was probably built by King Borom Trailokanath. It was likely initiated by King Ramesuan (r. 1369-1370) and then modified by King Borom Trailokanath (r. 1448-1488). In 1741, during the reign of King Borom Kot, the temple was further renovated.
One chronicle suggests alternatively that Wat Phra Ram was built in 1369 on the site of King Ramathibodi’s (r. 1351-69) crematorium by his son Ramesuan.
