Meroth was a Jewish village in Upper Galilee. In the fifth century A.D., the Jewish community built a magnificent synagogue. A porch was built in front of the triple entrance, which faced Jerusalem. Stone benches were arranged along the three walls and the roof was supported by two rows of columns.oo
