The cave was first discovered in 1880 by a young shepherd who followed a fox in through a crack. The cave is located Between Mount Aigoual, Gorges of the Tarn and Viaduc of Millau. It is the largest cave of Causses and the Cavennes. The cave shows extraordinary speleothems. It is also called La Grotte Rose (The Pink Cave) as many of the speleothems show pink colours.
