Thailand, Mae Sot – Wat Thai Wattanaram (00:02:56)

Wat Thai Wattanaram had an old name is Wat Mae Tao Ngeo or Wat Thai Yai. This is a temple in Mahayana Buddhism of the Thai Yai people. Moreover, the traditions, arts, culture, rituals which were received an influence by the Union of Myanmar. It was built in 1857 by Mr. Mung a Burmese from Shan State who emigrated to live in Mae Sot district and he becomes the first village headman of Mae Tao village. Afterwards, he was given the name that Meun Arage Kum Heang Harn in 1957, the Ministry of Education announced it as a Buddhist temple under the Department of Religion. The Buddha image that Tak people are extremely respect, that is a Phra Phuttha Maha Muni, a Buddha image that was enshrine in this temple that is a replica of the sacred Buddha image and the priceless Buddha image from Mandalay, Myanmar.
